Spin field-effect transistor (spin FET)

A 3D schematic with the model it was made from. Open the model in the editor and make the figure your own in a few minutes.

Make this figure yours

  1. Download the model spin-fet.xml
  2. Open the editor in a new tab, no account needed
  3. In the editor, choose Import Model and select spin-fet.xml.

Things to try

  • Turn the device to the viewpoint you need.
  • Export the result as a PNG image.

What the figure shows

  • Source and drain – ferromagnetic contacts; the source injects spin-polarised electrons, the drain passes those whose spin matches its magnetisation.
  • Channel – the semiconductor between them, where the electron spins precess.
  • Spin arrows – the spin direction at successive points along the channel.

Files

spin-fet.xml The model. Open it in the editor, or read and change it with your own tools.
spin-fet.png The image above, exported from the editor.
spin-fet.svg A vector version for Inkscape, Illustrator and other vector editors. Prototype SVG export is planned for the Prototype plan.
